Newfound Gap is a young old-time string band from Leicester, North Carolina. Siblings Bayla, Sylvie, Judah, and Emme Davis have been playing music together for several years, earning accolades and awards along the way. They’ve won first place ribbons for best youth band at several fiddlers conventions, are each Galax individual ribbon holders, and have taken the stage at such prestigious events as Cabin Stage at Merlefest, The Art of Music Festival, and The Blue Ridge Opry.
Each of these young musicians are intent on continuing their lifelong love of traditional music in the future, planning to teach and perform for future generations. Don’t miss the next generation of heritage preservationists.
The Orchard Music Program offers live, traditional music in support of our nonprofit mission to preserve the history, heritage and culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our hope is to educate the public about the Appalachian experience so that these important traditions may be carried forward with future generations.
