Live Music at the Orchard: Newfound Gap

Newfound Gap is a young old-time string band from Leicester, North Carolina. Siblings Bayla, Sylvie, and Judah Davis have been playing music together for several years since joining the Buncombe County JAM program (Junior Appalachian Musicians). They have learned from accomplished musicians and teachers such as Cary Fridley, Hannah Seng, and Ben Nelson. All three young musicians have played music since the age of 6 and are intent on continuing their lifelong love of traditional music in the future. Check out the next generation of heritage preservationists.
The Orchard Music Program offers live, traditional music in support of our nonprofit mission to preserve the history, heritage and culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our hope is to educate the public about the Appalachian experience so that these important traditions may be carried forward with future generations.
