**IMPORTANT VISITOR INFORMATION**

We are so excited that you are planning a trip to the Orchard!

We have got one of the most beautiful spots on the Blue Ridge and we are thankful that our land is protected from development.

As you arrive, we ask for your patience.

We wish that everyone could drive right up to the Orchard, pull into a parking spot, and head out for apple picking, but there are times when lots are full and lines are long—parking delays are unfortunately inevitable.

“We want to make visits to the Orchard as pleasant as we can for everyone. Sometimes folks get a little ahead of themselves, so we ask everyone to take a deep breath, use common sense, be respectful of others, and the land we are working to protect.”
–Beth Hilton, Executive Director

Weekends in September & October are busiest, and waits are to be expected.

Weekdays usually provide a bit of a slower pace with less waiting involved. Large vehicles, such as campers, extended trucks, or RVs will have longer wait times as many of our parking areas will not accommodate longer vehicles.

Large Vehicle Parking

RVs, Campers, Buses, Extended Vans and Trucks

IMPORTANT: Traveling northwest on the Blue Ridge?

IF YOU ARE TRAVELING NORTHWEST ON THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY: DO NOT attempt to turn right onto Orchard Road. There is a potentially dangerous hairpin turn at the entrance. Please continue on the Blue Ridge to North Cove Valley Overlook (milepost 327.3) and turn around. You may then turn left on to Orchard Road.

  • Parking for large vehicles is limited. Text our operations manager 30 minutes prior to your arrival at 828-467-4282 to let them know you are coming. If we are able, we will hold a parking spot for you. There may be times when none are available. We do not suggest waiting at the Orchard as roadways need to remain clear.
  • RVs, campers, buses, and other large vehicles should use our upper parking lot. Once you’ve turned on to Orchard Road, proceed past the General Store. The upper parking lot past the music pavilion on your left.

Standard Vehicle Parking

  • Please be patient and wait for a spot in a designated parking area to be available.
  • Follow signage instructions in parking areas.
  • Do not park on lawns, sidewalks, or in the Orchard.
  • Do not park on the side of the road. The law requires that it be clear and accessible for two-way traffic and emergency vehicles.
  • Do not block access to the road in any way; we will have no choice but to tow your vehicle at your expense. We want you to have a fantastic time on your visit – we do not want to have to tow you!
  • Handicapped parking is located in front of the General Store. Vehicles in this area must display proper hang tag or license plate.
