Spring Spruce Up!

Monday, March 31 from 10 AM – 3 PM

Join us for the Orchard at Altapass Spring Spruce Up – our first volunteer day of 2025!

NOTE: Lunch will be provided, so please RSVP to Tricia at marketing@altapassorchard.org by 3/28 so we can plan accordingly.

We’re sprucing up two key spots before opening day:
– Trail 2 winds into the lower woods. Large trees are cleared, but we need help cleaning up remaining limbs and debris.
– The Pollinator Garden, located at the front of the Orchard, is craving some TLC.
Pick an area to tackle or split your time between both!
Wear sturdy shoes or work boots and bring work gloves, hand clippers, rakes, or even a chainsaw or two.
Let’s get the Orchard ready together – see you there! 🌳🦋

2025 Opening Day –Tentative

10AM – 5PM

We are pleased to announce our tentative opening date for the 2025 season: Saturday, May 10th!

During the month of May, the Orchard’s General Store will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 10AM to 5PM serving up hand-scooped ice cream, warm apple pie, and home-made fudge. Come by and browse our unique selection of handcrafted items from local artisans, potters, and woodworkers–there’s something for everyone!

Note: The portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway that leads directly to the Orchard is currently closed due to ongoing repair work. We are hopeful that this section of the Parkway will be open by May 10.

Set in our music pavilion with sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this family-friendly event brings together Altapass Baptist Church and Altapass Church of God.

3rd Annual Pipes on the Parkway

Noon – 4PM

Join us for the 3rd annual Pipes on the Parkway on June 7th, from noon to 4 PM, at The Orchard at Altapass, where the rich Scots-Irish heritage of our region comes alive through the soulful sounds of traditional music. Set amidst a stunning heirloom apple orchard perched along the Blue Ridge Parkway, this event offers a unique blend of history and harmony, with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop.

Celebrate the enduring legacy of the Scots-Irish settlers who shaped these hills, as pipers and musicians fill the air with timeless melodies that echo their stories of resilience and culture. Whether you’re tapping your feet to the tunes or soaking in the scenic beauty of this historic orchard, Pipes on the Parkway promises an afternoon of connection to the past and enjoyment of the present—perfect for families, history buffs, and music lovers alike.
