MUSIC ~ MUSIC
As part of the Altapass Foundation’s mission to preserve local culture, we offer free live music programs to the public during season (May-November 1). These programs serve to educate the public about mountain music and dance and to encourage people to participate in traditional dance. Not only does the music provide an afternoon of entertainment and fun for Orchard visitors, but also, support for local musicians—every performer and group are paid for performances.
Be sure to check out our calendar of events for times, dates, and talent.

Dancing
& Demos
A big part of the mountain heritage is the music. But what's music without dancing? And we encourage all to "cut a rug" on the cornmeal-sprinkled dance floor. You don't have to know how to dance, just want to be a part of the fun.
If you really want to know what mountain dancing is all about, stay for either a clogging or two-step dance demonstration from 2:30-3:00 PM. All free. All welcome.

Bill Carson, Orchard co-founder, offers these three secrets to remember about dancing:
1. Be sure both feet hit the floor on the beat
2. Smile
3. They only watch the good dancers

JUNE-OCTOBER
Wednesday

Whether you play, practice, or just like to sit and listen and perhaps learn a bit, bring your instruments, homemade or not, and join us on Wednesday afternoons for fun! You sing? Bring your voice. No charge to performers or audience members. Strictly for pure enjoyment and time in the spotlight. Each musical act performs for 20 minutes on the Orchard stage. You never know who'll show up or who'll be in the audience. So come on over. We look forward to seeing you!
And we have a great sound system.
