Annual Membership

Our members are the core of our annual giving program. Your annual gift helps us to offer free and low-cost programs every day of our six-month season. We understand that times are hard for many people so we’ve added an option to spread your donation out in 12 monthly payments. Whether you choose to join with a one-time payment or with subscription payments, your support is greatly appreciated. Each contribution is important!

We offer individual, couple, and family memberships at five levels, and each level comes with free passes and other benefits! The Seed level has specific minimum donations for individual, couple, and family memberships. All other levels are open to any membership type for any donation. Please note: A “family” is defined as one or two parents and their minor children living in the same household.

*Free passes are good for Super Saturdays (children 6 to 12), Guided Walks, and Hayrides. Please make your reservations in advance by calling (828) 765-9531. Membership cards can be picked up at the store during the season. All benefits must be collected in person at the Orchard.

Membership contributions are tax deductible minus the value of gifts received. The values of the member benefits are as follows: Passes ($6 per person), Cutting ($1 each), Fruit ($10 per peck), Rhododendron ($35 per plant), and Store Discount (20% of purchase price).

Become a Volunteer

The Orchard at Altapass is a fun place to visit and a great place to volunteer! The Orchard is blessed with generous people who choose to donate their time and talents to assist with our projects. A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to all of our volunteers, numbering in the hundreds over each Orchard season. Volunteers graciously: greet our visitors, host and serve our holiday picnics, work on fundraisers, help and participate in the music programs, run the sound system, pass the tip jar, make, donate and hang curtains, donate fans, sound equipment, air whistles, canon fire, take and share videos and photographs, share family stories and historic photos, keep the butterfly garden healthy, organize bird watching activities, donate items for sale, assist visitors with product tasting, sell apples, make and serve caramel apples, help guests pick apples, keep our grounds and building clean, assist with parking on busy weekends, perform repair work, provide desserts, entertain children, install our traveling display, greet visitors at Welcome Centers and museums, set up for special events, serve on committees and boards, assist with banking, maintain computer databases, and help with grants. The list is nearly endless and we could not get along without them!
